There are several methods of fixing freestanding awnings to your vehicle. The most common are :-

1. For vehicles with Awning rails fitted.

All our motor annexes incorporate a conventional Awning cord in the roof of the tunnel that attached toDriveaway-kit1 the vehicle. For vehicles with awning rails fitted it can be a simple case to attaching the awning using the awning cord. To help make this easier use a fig. 8 strip as described below (For vehicles with gutters) and clip the fig.8 strip into the awning rail. It is still possible to attach a freestanding motor annexe to vehicles fitted with wind out awnings, as most wind out awnings incorporate an awning channel, you may need an adapter cord as some of the awning channels incorporated into wind out awnings are smaller than conventional awning rails

2. For vehicles with gutters.

Using a fig. 8 strip connected to the awning cord. A fig 8 strip is a plastic strip which viewed from the end resembles the number 8. with 2 channels removed to allow an awning cord to be inserted. The awning cord if feed into one side of the fig. 8 strip. the other side of the fig. 8 strip is slotted onto the vehicle gutter rail.

3. For vehicles with roofracks or as an alternative on vehicles with gutters.

The majority of awnings have a pole sleeve incorporated into the tunnel of the awning. A pole fed through the pole sleeve can then be attached to the vehicle using clamps or straps

4. When no other suitable fixing is available.

The awning can be attached using guy lines or straps. These can be attached to the awning tunnel,

taken over the roof of the vehicle and pegged own on the far side.

5. Another useful fixing method is to use some Dent Pullers (Available from Car Accessory shops).

Stick the dent pullers to a shiny surface on your vehicle and attach the awning tunnel to them using a pole or straps.

You will need to be flexible and adapt to the fixing method most suited to your vehicle.
